I'm not a breakfast girl, so when I tried Bulletproof Coffee, I was so excited at how delicious it was, how long I stayed full, and, most importantly, how amazing I felt.
I can't take full credit for beginning this trend. I strangely follow a swath of Nashville, TN folks (I'm in DC), and they all worshiped this coffee for a while. After Kelly from Velvet's Edge posted THIS blog post, I dove in and am better for it. Like, I literally would dive into this coffee...
And the reason I'm shouting out Kelly specifically is because 1. I think we should be friends and 2. she's the one who suggested the game-changer - this vanilla ghee:
I basically follow the same method they suggest: 8oz of coffee, 1 Tbs of MCT oil and 1 Tbs of ghee blended until frothy.
The reason Bulletproof Coffee finds a place on this blog is because I have really been embracing healthy fats, and for the first time in my life I feel full between meals. And not just full, but not having any desire to snack - as is no cravings, either. This I credit to another Kelly, Kelly LeVeque, the creator of BeWellByKelly.com and author of Body Love.
She suggests getting fat, fiber, protein and greens in each meal. Despite years of being extremely disciplined with my diet, I'm finally seeing the unwanted weight melt off.
Here's the big disclaimer, though: check with your doctor if you have any health issues, and understand that this is a calorie-dense beverage. It's all I have for breakfast, then I don't need to eat for five or six hours. In other words, if you have a Bulletproof Coffee, then a doughnut, then snacks, then lunch, and so on, and you see yourself gaining wait, please know that this is not some miracle beverage that magically makes you lose weight. It's part of a healthy lifestyle and should be factored into everything else consumed that day!
